£6.7m funding has been announced for phase two of Erith Park regeneration in Bexley.

The scheme receives funding from the Mayor of London and represents one of the largest projects of its type in London.

The second phase of the regeneration at Erith Park in Bexley has been confirmed with the announcement of £6.7m funding from the Mayor of London. The grant from the Mayor's Affordable Homes Programme enables local housing association, Orbit South, to continue work at Erith Park, a £120m housing project that that will completely transform the former Larner Road estate in Erith. Orbit South, in partnership with the local community, the London Borough of Bexley, Wates Living Space and Orbit Homes, has already begun to replace the seven high-rise blocks with around 550 new homes for around 3,000 local people.

Vivien Knibbs, Executive Director, Orbit South said: "It's terrific news that the GLA has confirmed funding for the second phase and shows there confidence in us to deliver this complex, exciting scheme. The project will completely transform this part of London, bringing significant investment into the area and creating homes which people can be really proud of."

Andy Fancy, South Region Managing Director (New Build) at Wates, said: "The news that we are continuing our partnership with Orbit South and Bexley Council by delivering phase two of Erith Park’s regeneration, means that we can build upon the great work already being done through phase one - with family homes, market sale, local business, supply chain and community opportunities front of mind at all times. This evident and high profile regeneration project will prove to the community the Bexley is truly 'Open for Business'."

Work on the site started in April this year with the first homes being ready in late 2014. The Erith Park development will be owned and managed by Orbit South. It will include a mix of homes for affordable rent, private market sale and low cost home ownership. In phase one, 40% will be three and four bedroom family houses with gardens. The apartments will be low rise and all will have a private balcony or terrace. 10% will accommodate wheelchair users.
