About Vertical Access Ltd
Vertical Access Ltd was established in 1988 by Paul Braithwaite with the aim of developing methods for working at heights and applying them to a variety of commercial and industrial projects.
The company is now one of the leading industrial rope-access companies in Britain, and provides consulting services and rope-access solutions for difficult-to-reach areas. Vertical Access have a commitment to providing a fast and personal response to meet the needs of its clients.
Our abseiling technicians are trained and assessed with the IRATA training scheme. We offer a range of specialist services, including ground and slope stabilisation, de-vegetation, rail and nuclear work, industrial surveys, inspections and testing, geotechnical contracts, building inspections, repair and maintenance, bridge inspections repair and maintenance, soil nailing and ground anchors and sign and banner installation. All work is carried out by appropriately qualified personnel. We are Link Up approved and are members of Constructionline and SAFEcontractor.
We also offer IRATA training courses to all levels, and courses in safe working at height.
Technical Services
Vertical Access is based near Manchester and offers a range of specialised rope-access services, with work carried out by appropriately qualified personnel working throughout the UK and Europe.
IRATA Training & Rope-Access Courses
Vertical Access Ltd is one of the leading training companies in the UK and was established by Paul Braithwaite over 20 years ago. Our Training Manager, Richard Hudson, is one of the most experienced and respected trainers in the UK and has an excellent first-time pass rate.
Paul Bingham, Health & Safety Director for Vertical Access, was formerly Chairman of IRATA and an IRATA Assessor. He is now Chairman of the IRATA Health & Safety Committee, and made a significant contribution to the recently published IRATA International Code of Practice.
Our courses are designed to cover all elements of the IRATA training syllabus and current legislation. Our comprehensive training manual is an excellent reference aid whilst training, and to working in the industry.
All courses take place at the “Leeds Wall” Climbing Centre, where we have our own indoor training facility, which has recently undergone renovation. The facility uses structural steelwork, which gives an industrial feel and is non-weather dependent.
During the course candidates will be able to try out a range of rope-access equipment, and are given the opportunity to buy equipment at a discounted price at the end of their training.

Reviews & Testimonials for Vertical Access Ltd
October 01, 2017
Your instructor, Richard Hudson, has to be the best instructor I have been involved with in my 15 years in Rope Access. His knowledge, patience and attitude are a credit to your company and it was a pleasure to deal with Vertical Access Ltd in all aspects. The Leeds Wall is a very good facility, with a varied degree of access challenges to suit all levels and is recommended, especially in the winter months.
I would not hesitate in recommending your course or company for any aspect of rope access, be it training or industrial work requirements.
Once again, many thanks for everyone’s assistance.
