About Stone Supplies (Cotswolds)

Quarried since Roman times, the warmth and beauty of natural Cotswold Stone characterises some of the finest architecture in the country and has provided the fabric of many magnificent houses and churches. Much of the charm of the Cotswolds lies in the distinctive character of its cities, towns and villages, built from the local stone.

Situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, Stone Supplies (Cotswolds) is a family owned and run business that has established itself at the forefront of supplying high quality Cotswold stone products for over 15 years. Operating from our quarry at Tetbury, we provide building, landscaping and architectural products of the highest quality in a variety of natural variations which highlight the beauty of natural Cotswold stone.

All of our products are suitable for a range of projects ranging from small extensions, conservation schemes, modern new build designs, listed buildings and the renovation of historic buildings.

We are very proud of our excellent reputation for customer service and attention to detail and are able to offer all our clients individual guidance, using our specialist knowledge to take any project from conception, through the design process and then finally to the crafting of individual, bespoke masonry.

Walling Stone
Dry stone walling is hand selected to ensure a consistent quality and can be cropped by guillotine to give a clean face. Stones are irregular in shape, vary in size and range in thickness from 50mm – 150mm. Typically used for boundary, garden and ornamental walls, generally constructed with no mortar.

Building Stone
One of the most popular building materials used in the Cotswolds, it is cropped by guillotine, or by hand if necessary, to give a face roughly rectangular. It can be supplied random in both length and height with standard bed dimensions of between 100mm – 125mm. Typically used for the outer skin of cavity walls.

Cotswold Architectural Dressings
These are specialist, bespoke products which are sawn and then hand finished or carved by our master masons. We are able to work from detailed drawings or work with clients early in the design process in order to fulfil specific requirements.

Cotswold Stone Flooring
We produce two distinctive types of flagstones to suit individual tastes. Our base bed flagstones are cut from the same Cotswold buff stone that you would expect to see from our architectural dressings and our darker top bed flagstones are produced with an abundance of seashell content making this a particularly attractive product.

Traditional flagstones were cut at a minimum of 50mm thick but with modern equipment we are able to reduce this to 25mm top suit todays building and architectural requirements. We can advise on the size of flagstones to suit each individual project and we also offer a variety of finishes including undulated, distressed and Cabouchons, to make up a unique floor.

Natural Stone Fire Surrounds
All of our fire surrounds are individually made and handcrafted from the beautiful Cotswold limestone quarried at our site in Tetbury, we do not import any stone from elsewhere in the country or abroad and do not supply reconstituted, imitation stone surrounds.

Bespoke & Decorative Masonry
In addition to offering a bespoke design, crafted and fitting service for all types of natural stone fire surrounds, our stonemasonry team are also able to assist our clients with the design and production of a wide range of personalised, one-off, decorative masonry. All beautifully crafted in Cotswold limestone these may include such items as sundial plinths, birdbaths, finials, pillars and decorative caps, garden ornaments, sink tops and vanity units.

Roof Tiles
Stone roofing is one of the most distinctive products available in the Cotswolds and can be seen on many roofs across the whole of the South of England.

The tiles are available in both “new” and “aged” form to suit a variety of projects from new builds through to church renovations and have been used on listed buildings across the region as well as historic Oxford colleges. These are available in incremental lengths ranging from 22” to 6” and come in variety of widths.
