Williams started trading approximately 1950 in the Old Huddersfield Market, which was built in 1880. It was a very impressive building with its wrought iron roof (painted and gilded) and its stone carving all the way round. But it was so old it had to be knocked down in 1960s and the new market opening in 1970 which is where we stand today 63 years later.
