Philip drew up plans for a 2 storey extension and re modelling of my home. He did not advise me on a contract with the builder or provide me with any estimated costs for the project he simply sent the tender out to 2 builders which was insufficient to gauge an acurate price for the job. The builder he recommended, Nick Ludgate’ who carried out the work had gone bust 4 months earlier with debts of £670,000 which he didn’t not tell me. Nick had set up a new company during the tender process in his sons name which I was also not told but Philip was fully aware of.
The result of this is that the work is appalling. Nick used subcontractors that he had no idea of the quality of their work as they were all new to him. I have obtained a surveyors defects report on Philips advice but neither Philip or Nick will answer my communications to discuss the report and find a way forward. I have been overcharged for extras all with Philips approval and I have obtained invoices for materials as proof. I found Philip to be very controlling and him and Nick bullied me throughout the works. The lack of honestly about the builder recommendation is inexcusable Philip had a professional duty to me and as a result I have incurred huge losses and am having to pay to put the work right.
