ABOUT US
B C Barton Ltd was established in the heart of the Black Country in 1898, by Benjamin Charles Barton and his son Percival. As specialists in traditional presswork, welded fabrication and sheet metal manipulation, our roots lie in metal work and contract manufacturing.

We have always embraced new ideas and methods for the processing and forming of sheet metal. This mentality, combined with a policy of accepting and employing the benefits of modern practices and technological developments, means we are very well established as a market leader in specialised metalwork, steel fabrication and engineering, and construction and scaffolding supplies.

Over the years we have manufactured for Ford Motor Company, SGB, Mabey, British Telecom, RMD Kwikform and many more leading companies across the world – most of whom we continue to supply. We also service many small to medium sized companies who require bespoke manufacturing, steelworks or items from our own product range.

DESIGN SERVICES
A full design capability enables BCB to offer a bespoke manufacturing service. Working in partnership with customers, we are able to provide constructive input on product design, prototypes, testing, manufacturing feasibility and production output. Small production runs also benefit from the addition of advanced in-house CAD/CAM systems, which reduce the inherent operating costs.

Working closely with the customer the design team can:

• Generate 3D CAD product designs and detailed engineering drawings from a hand drawn image or product idea
• Refine the product design to improve usability, design, quality and function
• Recommend design changes to achieve lower production costs or to meet a specified budget
• Use detailed design specs to produce samples and proto-types
• Provide a hard copy drawing or electronic specification drawing which are linked directly to the manufacturing facility
• Use internal systems to maximise raw material utilisation to keep costs as low as possible
• Produce tooling, jigs and fixture

MANUFACTURING CAPACITY
B C Barton’s 75000 sq. ft. production facility combines traditional skills and experience with the latest in production technology.

Plant Capacity

• Hot and cold presswork up to 500 tonnes
• Shearing of blanks up to 12mm thick
• Automatic saws for profiles and tubes
• Laser cutting with automatic feed and unload for low cost operation
• Punching of sheet metal up to 10mm thick
• CNC Press Brakes up to 6 metres long and 600 tonnes
• Production milling and turning
• Thread rolling up to 100mm diameter
• Welding – MIG, TIG, Synergetic MIG on aluminium, Spot Welding
• Alternative assembly methods using liquid adhesives and pre-coated specialist tapes, rivets, avdels and threaded inserts
• Fabrication and assembly of small complex products up to larger items with a maximum weight of 5 tonnes
• Wet spray and powder coating, galvanising and plating
• In-house tool making
