About Kilbroney Timberframe Ltd
In the developed world the majority of newly built homes are now built from natural, organic and non-toxic timber frame. Timber frame houses have been around in Ireland for a long time and have proved their durability, with the same expected life-span as a conventional type house, but with the added advantages of much faster construction and improved energy efficiency - up to 40% more efficient than traditional block-constructed houses.
At Kilbroney Timberframe we have built up more than 30 years experience in the construction industry in Ireland, and 15 years specifically in the timber frame manufacturing sector. Our team have been recognised by the major UK and Irish quality assurance bodies as consistent providers of high quality results, and our commitment to the environment means that we strive to lead by example in all aspects of our building processes.
Fast efficient Timberframe construction
With traditional construction methods all stages of the build process are heavily dependent on each other, e.g. foundations need to be complete before interior walls can be started. With timberframe construction the house structure can be manufactured in parallel with the laying of the foundations and shipped to the site as soon as they are required, for rapid erection.
Timber Frame Housing
The main difference between traditional building methods and timber frame construction is that the inner shell of the house is constructed from a timber structure. Exterior walls are still built in the conventional way using bricks and mortar. In this way you enjoy the benefits of timber frame inside the home, without compromising on the strength afforded by conventional block walls on the outside. The final result is virtually indistinguishable to the untrained eye.
Benefits of Timber Frame
The Build Process
Timber frame construction is an established building technique that has been used for many years. If you are unsure of the process enabling you to obtain the timber frame home of your dreams.
Windows, Doors & Panels
The performance of glazing and doors can have a significant effect on the overall energy performance of a building. We also ensure that all windows, door and panels are adequately sealed to achieve the required airtightness standards for an A3 Building Energy Rating (BER).
Insulation and Air Tightness
At Kilbroney Timberframe we use various types of environmentally friendly insulation materials such as thermo hemp, mineral fibre and thermal rigid PIR insulation board to reduce the heat flow through walls and roofs, as well as using doors and windows carefully selected for their insulating performance.
Energy Ratings
We use a wide range of efficient insulation products and techniques to ensure airtightness, helping achieve A3 Building Energy Ratings for all our homes. In addition, all windows and doors used in our timberframe home constructions have been designed with thermal efficiency in mind, without compromising on their overall appearance.
