About Powe
Powerbetter provides soils and infrastructure improvement services, from bases in Ireland and the UK, reflecting the knowledge and experience which Powerbetter has acquired over its years of performance as one of Europe's leading Mix-in-Place stabilisation/solidification contractors.
The company is the only independent and long-established stabilisation contractor located in both countries, with wide-ranging experience of the technological and practical advances made in stabilisation and soils improvement techniques and processes since the early 1980s.
For many years, Powerbetter was the sole UK soil stabilisation practitioner, and worked closely with the Department of Transport, and other organisations such as the Transport Research Laboratory and British Airports Authority, to pioneer new developments in stabilisation technology in the UK, through its works on government agency projects in road construction, at regional airports at London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow, and on major commercial and industrial schemes.
Powerbetter has been examining both soils and waste streams from other regions of the world (China, Romania, Chile and Bolivia) for a number of years, and has been active in researching, and developing remediation solutions for the treatment of contaminated and polluted soils in Canada since early 2004.
Powerbetter's UK operational division - Powerbetter Environmental Processes Limited - offers a specialist service to industry as one of the original companies licensed by the Environment Agency in the insitu remediation treatment of contaminated materials.
Powerbetter (Ireland) Limited operates from a base at Mullingar, in County Westmeath, ideally located to access the whole of the commercial heart of the country.
Soil Stabilisation
Soil stabilisation is an established earthworks process, pioneered by Powerbetter over many years, on projects ranging from airport runways and taxiways; motorway and trunk road pavement infrastructures; residential, retail, and leisure developments.
Its principle application has been to improve soil subgrades for use in road pavement constructions, but further developments have led to the use of soils modification and stabilisation techniques being incorporated within a wide range of commercial construction uses.
Land Remediation
There is an increasing requirement to remediate brownfield sites, in response to growing pressures to generate further development sites in an expanding economic climate.
The major changes which have taken place are making available for development many of what would have been considered to be blighted sites, due to their former uses as gas works, rail sites, landfill, refineries and similar heavy industrial application sites.
