About National Federation of Roofing Contractors

NFRC is the UK’s largest roofing trade association. With a history spanning over 130 years, NFRC has established itself as the voice of the roofing industry, constantly adapting to change and innovation to ensure its members are at the forefront.

Why NFRC?
NFRC actively ensures that all members offer high standards of workmanship and sound business practice through a strict code of practice, vetting procedure, and regular site inspections.

Find A Roofer
No matter the type of roof or the size of the project you will be able to find an NFRC approved contractor to suit your needs. NFRC also operates the National Heritage Roofing Contractors Register for qualified heritage roofing specialists.

JOIN NFRC
Whether you are a contractor, manufacturer, merchant or other stakeholder in the UK roofing industry, NFRC has a suitable membership package for you. NFRC has a strong commitment to supporting members, and with a host of benefits there has never been a better time to join.

Download Publications
NFRC produces a wide range of technical publications covering the numerous roofing disciplines, many of which are free to download.

Advice on choosing a contractor
When choosing a roofing contractor you should consider your choice very carefully and you are advised to check them out before employing them. If you employ a good reputable roofing contractor in terms of price, reliability and workmanship, the potential for problems will be greatly reduced.

Please be aware that when carrying out refurbishment work to 50% or more of a roof's area that either a roofing contractor that is registered with the NFRC Competent Person Scheme must be employed or your Local Authority Building Control must be contacted prior to work starting. This is in order to confirm that the roof should be upgraded to meet thermal requirements of Part L of the current Building Regulations.

Why you should choose an NFRC roofing contractor
It goes without saying that the roof over your head is one of the most important parts of your home, protecting you and your possessions from the elements. Whether you need a repair, a new roof, or are replacing an existing roof, using an NFRC member contractor to carry out the work will give you peace of mind, as well as a weatherproof roof.

For High Standards
To ensure that NFRC contractors offer the highest standards in workmanship and customer service, all member contractors are rigorously vetted before joining NFRC and every three years thereafter.

A roofing contractor must meet the following vetting criteria:
  • A satisfactory trading record, including financial stability
  • Inspections of past contracts to verify quality craft skills and technical competence
  • Satisfactory public, employers’ and third party insurance cover
  • Compliance with Health and Safety Legislation
  • Compliance with the NFRC Code of Practice as well as British and European Standards
