IPAF TRAINING
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) training program is globally recognized, developed by leading industry professionals and available in multiple languages across a worldwide network of more than 750 IPAF-approved Training Centres.
The comprehensive range of classroom and eLearning courses covers mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) including boom, scissor, 1b, 3a and 3b categories of machines, mast climbing work platforms (MCWPs) and construction hoists. Courses are aimed at operators, service technicians, delivery drivers, managers/supervisors, demonstrators, installers and instructors.
IPAF training courses help you keep your employees safe and you stay legal.
WHERE CAN I TRAIN?
IPAF itself does not provide training. Training is provided by over 750 IPAF-approved training centers in nearly 50 countries and regions. Each training center is regularly audited by IPAF to ensure the highest standard of training is delivered. IPAF’s MEWP operator course allows you to undertake the theory element of your training either as eLearning or in the classroom prior to your practical training and test. IPAF’s latest MEWPs for Managers course can be completed either in the classroom or by eLearning. Ask your IPAF-approved Training Centre for eLearning options when booking.
WHAT IS ELEARNING?
IPAF's eLearning provides a flexible and enhanced online learning experience for the mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) operator, MEWPs for Managers and MEWP Supervisor (North America only) training programs. It provides the same high-quality theory training as in the classroom and can be completed on a range of devices anytime, anywhere, at your own pace.
HOW LONG DOES IPAF TRAINING TAKE?
Depending on the training, courses generally last one to two days and are a mixture of theory (unless eLearning has been completed beforehand) and practical with a written and a practical test. See the MEWP, MCWP and Hoist courses page for more details.
DO I GET A PAL CARD?
The majority of IPAF MEWP, MCWP and Hoist courses, if passed, will qualify you for a Powered Access Licence (PAL Card), which is globally recognized and proof that you have been trained to the highest standard. Your PAL Card lasts for five years (dependent on your country/regions regulations).
From June 2021 UK & Ireland PAL Cards are issued digitally and accessed via ePAL, IPAF’s free mobile phone app. A printed PAL Card will still be available.
