S.G. Bailey Paints Ltd started making paint in Stroud in 1896. Richard Townsend has run the company since 1989 and has considerable technical expertise in paint specifications, suitability, formulations and manufacturing.

The company specialises in paint finishes and associated finishing accessories. It manufactures paint for many leading engineering firms throughout the South West making all RAL and BS colours as well as bespoke tints. The shop stocks high quality trade and designer decorative ranges. Staff have excellent technical knowledge and are skilled paint tinters.

Bailey Paints has thousands of account customers across a wide spectrum of business types. They include: engineering firms, steel fabricators, agricultural engineers, painters and decorators, property developers, maintenance companies, interior designers, hotels, schools and colleges, stately homes and many more.

Decorative Paint
High quality paint should have beautiful colour and also good covering power. We only stock paint ranges that will do both: Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan, Benjamin Moore, Dulux Trade, Crown Trade, Earthborn Clay Paint, Farrow & Ball, Little Greene Paint Company, and Paint Library as well as our own-manufacture emulsions.

We positively encourage you to sample colours before you buy and try and help you make informed choices. We can advise you about specialist high performance woodstains and systems for exterior wood. metal paint, paint for new plasterwork, floor paints, problem-solving coatings and much more.

We hold an enormous range of woodfinishes in stock: oil, wax, shellac, varnish, stain and dye. There are products for inside and out and specialist coatings for wooden floors. Designer Wallpapers
If you are thinking of using wallpaper instead of paint, please give us a ring or browse the books on our website.

If you would like to see the papers in your own home, please speak to a member of staff or order on our website and we will arrange for samples to be posted to you. This sampling service is free of charge (for up to 5 samples) and normally takes about 3 working days.

Wallpaper orders most often arrive within 3-5 working days, but this varies with manufacturers. Wallpaper orders are delivered to the shop at Bailey Paints, where they will be checked and signed for. Our staff will then contact you so you can collect at your convenience or have it delivered.
