About Dowd Town Planning
Welcome to Dowd Town Planning
Dowd Town Planning is a chartered town planning consultancy and a corporate member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, which has been founded in order to offer a comprehensive town planning service to both business clients and the wider public. Work is undertaken either directly, on behalf of private clients, or indirectly, on a freelance basis, acting on behalf of professional clients such as architectural and surveying practices and building firms. Although it is a new company (founded in 2008) it is able to draw upon the extensive professional planning experience of its joint managing directors, Paul Dowd and Louise Dowd. Paul Dowd spent 16 years in local government, employed by Macclesfield Borough Council's Planning Department in a wide variety of roles, including development control planning officer and planner in the Local Plans team. Louise Dowd has spent a total of 23 years in the planning departments of Tameside, Macclesfield and Staffordshire Moorlands Councils as well as six years in private practice as a chartered town planner.
We offer the complete range of professional planning services, from initial site assessment, through to managing the planning applications and appeals processes and everything in between. Clients can expect to receive regular progress reports and to have their interests represented to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Many clients' initial experience of applying for planning permission may well have resulted in an unsatisfactory conclusion and they often feel bewildered by the planning system and unsure as to how best to proceed. A central aim of Dowd Town Planning is to provide a straightforward and realistic assessment of the planning merits of a particular proposal and its chances of ultimate success. A plan of action will then be formulated and agreed with the client. This could involve further negotiation with the local planning authority, a resubmitted application for planning permission based upon revised drawings, an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate or numerous other solutions, individually tailored to the precise and unique circumstances of the development site and the proposal.
