About N Barber
N. Barber Building Ltd − Builders in Norfolk
N. Barber Building Ltd has been trading for 8 years. The team has many years of hands-on experience of all aspects of general building and are trained to NVQ level 3. Regular assessments are carried out to ensure our workmanship is of the highest standards at all times.
Our main building focus is new builds and property development projects; we are expert carpenters and have recently started using the thin bed system in our building projects. The thin bed system is a revolutionary technology which has been around for a long time but is underused.
We also undertake smaller building projects such as home extensions and pond building and invite you to contact us with any enquiry you may have.
We are fully insured and adhere to health and safety guidelines. Please contact us if you would like additional information.
We're then ready to start building. Below are the main steps followed and are intended to be a basic overview.
The government are keen to promote the use of the thin bed system as it will help solve the problem of housing shortages across the UK. So why don't more building firms use it?. The thin bed system is difficult to work with as there is less room for error so many builders avoid it. N Barber Building are experienced in the implementation of the thin bed system and recommend the use of the material where possible.

New Builds Turning dreams into reality...building your own home is a huge commitment and not one to be taken lightly. Having made the decision to go ahead you need a builder who has the skills and experience to make your home building dreams a reality. Below are some general steps to guide you on your self build journey: |
- With your plot of land already purchased, you may or may not have your plans completed. If not we can assist you by appointing a good architect on your behalf who will assist you.
- Once the plans are complete they will be submitted to the council for planning permission which should take around eight weeks.
- Once planning permission is given the plans are sent on to ''building control'' (also the council), with full specifications for their approval. This should take about two weeks.
We're then ready to start building. Below are the main steps followed and are intended to be a basic overview.
- Foundations
- Drainage
