Fairhaven Stone Ltd, owned by Lady Fairhaven, is based in Bottisham, Cambridgeshire. We have recently relocated our Norwich site to our existing Cambridge Stoneyard and have taken on a new office/workshop in Attleborough, to keep our presence in Norfolk.


Fairhaven Stone have experience in all aspects of the stone trade, including restoration, carving, cleaning and conservation, flooring, paving and new build, all to the highest standards, as demonstrated by the level of repeat business.

Both branches work closely together, combining their resources on larger projects.


New technology, using computer controlled saws and diamond-cutting tools, has transformed the way of working, but stonemasons are still taught to use the traditional methods.

We supply limestone, sandstone, granite and marble, the majority of which is sourced from the UK.

Our conservation laboratory in Cambridge offers advanced analytical processes, microscopy, studio conservation and consultancy services.

Stonemasonry Our workshop in Cambridge are fully equipped with modern primary and secondary saws allowing us to cut stone blocks direct from the quarries, ready to be worked by our craftsmen. The masonry work is mainly carried out by hand, as it has been over the centuries, using a mallet and chisel, but where appropriate, we also make use of modern day hand powered tools and lathes.

Stonecarving and Sculpture The art of the stone carver not only involves the working of stone and marble but also demands an ability to understand, draw, design and reproduce different periods and styles of architectural ornament and sculpture. The traditional skills we use have been developed over the centuries, although nowadays the use of modern technology has improved our speed and efficiency.

Conservation The Conservation Department has developed expertise working on a range of historical techniques and technologies. The team is led by an Accredited Stone Conservator, with lime based methods being our core work for stabilising, protecting and replicating historic buildings and sculpture. We also provide analytical and monitoring services for environmental and material changes affecting an object, leading to project development and maintenance programmes. Our objective is to provide complimentary measures for long term sustainable solutions in preventing or reducing new deterioration.
