About Dorset Flint And Stoneblocks Limited
The beauty of traditional stone…
The traditional method of flint laying is extremely slow, labour intensive and very costly. The creation of the Trad-Lite range of flint blocks has allowed a traditional building method to be used extensively in the construction of new properties as well as those that have to fulfil an environmental obligation.
Patented Lightweight Load Bearing Blocks
Only Trad-Lite flint blocks are made using the unique patented lightweight aggregate formula.
Products & Services
Any natural stone can be incorporated into our blocks and we also manufacture arches and angles for windows and gable ends and others.
Benefits of Trad-Lite…
The Trad-Lite range has other major advantages over traditional methods and cosmetic imitations. Over traditional methods, it can be used in load bearing external walls whereas traditional flint laying is limited to cladding. It can also be laid in adverse weather conditions to the same extent as brickwork. Compared to imitations and copies the Trad-Lite comprises a lightweight backing mix, which has reduced the overall average weight of a block from about 22kg to 17kg. This development followed consultation with the Manual Handling Regulation Guidelines issued by the Health & Safety Executive.
Laying & Pointing
Flintblocks are delivered to site by pallet with or without crane offload. A full pallet of blocks equates to 8m squared (80 full size blocks) and has a gross weight in the order of 1.4 tonnes. Each block has an average weight of about 17kg. Blocks are laid in the traditional form but with tight 5mm bed and perpindicular mortar joints.
