About GS UK Services - Ale Extractor Spares
About us
We are a small family run engineering company situated in Sowerby Bridge. The core business is the design and manufacture of beer raising products. A natural extension of this is sub-contract machining. Our machinery consists of CNC lathes, CNC machining centres & various toolroom equipment all ready for producing quality precision engineered components.
Sub Contract CNC Services
Sub-contract CNC machining services, from one off to high volume batches, through design, to prototype, to production, to customer specification, working with Stainless Steels, Brass, Aluminium, Plastics etc.
Fixture & Workholding
Our engineering division design and manufacture bespoke fixtures and work holding mechanisms. From simple to complex hydraulic fixtures, we are equipped to provide cost-effective solutions for any workholding challenge.
A quick release pallet system is available, designed to meet the needs of 21st century manufacturing with speed of change, repeatability and simplicity of use. Pallets can be purchased as blanks to fixture yourselves, ‘Tee’ slotted or with a grid plate to accept standard parts fixturing, or let us design a bespoke fixturing dedicated to your product.
Beer Products
We design and manufacture beer raising & dispensing products & components.
Design
The design side of our activities is predominantly centered around jigs and fixtures, although we have in the past designed breweries from 5 gallon to 15 barrel brew length.
As can be seen from the section on fixtures, our designs mostly involve the use of fourth and / or fifth axis for vertical machining centres where quantity and quality are paramount.
In common with all design offices, a great deal of the work is in detail drawings for the various components to be manufactured and these we can and do undertake for various customers. Seen below is a simple mortuary roller detailed for manufacture in our production department.
4th & 5th Axis
Fourth axis is probably the least thought of but the most useful basis for small, medium and large batch work. With this in mind we have developed a system of interchangeable trunnion plates that are suspended between the rotary table and an ‘A’ frame. The trunnion is normally ‘on centre’ with work pieces fixtured either side, however, when a job would be too tall, we use one side with the trunnion below centre. The trunnion is located by four dowels, two of which are diamond.
Sub Contract CNC Machining
Sub-contract CNC machining services, from one off to high volume batches, through design, to prototype, to production, to customer specification, working with Stainless Steels, Brass, Aluminium, Plastics etc.
Machinery
Here at GS Services, we have a combination of new and older machine tools, the newest being a Doosan G220 platten CNC lathe (2004) whilst the oldest is a 1932 Holbrook centre lathe. The old Holbrook, nicknamed 'the old cow', is used mainly for the odd 'one off', however it is kept mainly as it was my first lathe purchase back in 1978, sentimentality does take up space.
