About EPS Group Air Pressure Testing
Air Pressure Testing
The requirement for Air Pressure Testing (also referred to as Airtightness or Air Permeability Testing ) is firmly embedded within Part L1A & L2A of the Building Regulations for newly built Domestic and Commercial Properties.
The test measures the amount of uncontrolled air flow (also known as Air Leakage ) within a property that arises as a result of any gaps or cracks within the thermal envelope. Whilst a maximum threshold is set within the Building Regulations, the result of the test is also required for any associated SAP or SBEM calculation, where it has a direct bearing on the property's calculated Dwelling (or Building) Emission Rate.
Whilst there are certain provisions that can facilitate the use of default Air Leakage Rates or sampling processes, the increased stringency of the Part L 2010 of the Building Regulations means that proving a reduced Air Leakage Rate can be a cost-effective way for developers to reduce the overall calculated energy consumption of a building.
Based in Nottinghamshire, EPS Group are fully certified by the British Institute of Non Destructive Testing (BINDT) to undertake Air Pressure Testing on new dwellings in accordance with ATTMA TS1 "Measuring Air Permeability of Building Envelopes". We offer a professional and reliable service throughout the Midlands and South Yorkshire Area including:
As our Technicians work from the same offices as our SAP and SBEM Assessors, their direct contact can prove invaluable in cases where we are also instructed to carryout the associated energy calculation ensuring that there are no time delays or associated hassle with liaising between two alternate companies.
