About National Skills Academy
The accredited network for environmental technologies training.
The National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies offers you accredited environmental technologies training from the highest quality training providers, using the best facilities and equipment. All training carried out via the Skills Academy meets the requirements for MCS approval.
Why train with the Skills Academy?
Employers and employees using the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies will receive the highest quality renewables training, delivered by providers with state-of-the-art green facilities and taught by tutors with the most up to date knowledge.
Benefits for learners
Training under the National Skills Academy banner means you gain accredited environmental technology skills from the best providers across the country. Where previously it's been difficult to know who and where to go to for the right training, the Skills Academy offers recognised qualifications delivered in a place near you.
How the Academy Works
The National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies provides training in the design, installation and maintenance of technologies such as solar thermal, photovoltaics, heat pumps, water harvesting and recycling, and support for Green Deal.
Qualifications
The National Skills Academy qualifications take the form of upskilling units to complement the minimum Level 2 or 3 competence gained via a sector apprenticeship. The upskilling can be undertaken to cover installation, or installation and maintenance, of a given environmental technology. In addition, an environmental technologies awareness unit is available. Each leads to an award in the new QCF structure at Level 3.
Environmental Technologies
It's the building services engineering (BSE) sector's role to specify, design, install and maintain environmental technologies. The BSE sector represents the electrotechnical, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration and plumbing industries.
