About EcoBlast t/a Sodablast Ireland
Blasting at pressures as low as 15psi and using environmentally aware media at an average rate of only 25 kilos per hour, Soda Blasting can achieve perfect results when stripping paint, rust and other coatings from your Tractor or Classic Car without damage.
Using traditional Iron Slag (shot) as a blasting media, there is a very real danger of damage being caused to the item being cleaning due to the abrasive nature of the shot and also by the heat generated when contact is made with the surface (a common cause of warping and panel distortion). Another problem can be the high blasting pressure used which can result in surface pitting etc.
Soda blasting uses (as a main media) Sodium Bicarbonate – also known as baking soda.
The main advantages of this media are:
Services
Graffiti Removal
With Soda Blasting, graffiti (using paints, felt tip pens etc) can be successfully removed from most surfaces without damage to the substrate or the environment.
Other forms of removal mechanical scrubbing and/or chemical treatment, often leave an unsightly scar as a result of the attempted removal, which, in many cases, isn’t entirely successful. More aggressive methods, such as high pressure water, glass bead or sand blasting often damage the substrate and, in the latter two cases, there is a high volume of non-degradable residue created during the process which necessitates an intensive clean up.
Car Restorers
We can soda blast a shell in-situ or at our workshops, ensuring that the correct media is used at the correct pressure so as to cause no damage.
This includes aluminium body panels, thin sheet steel and fibreglass. We can, if required, follow up on the soda blasting with hard media (Restofine) on rusty areas, leaving clean steel ready for protection and repair.
Boat Owners
Soda Blast Ireland will come to blast the hull of your boat, whatever it is made from. Steel hulls can be stripped using hard media, fibreglass and timber hulls using soda. All anti-fouling can be removed, ready for painting.
Blasting with soda ensures that no soft materials or delicate mechanical components are affected during the cleaning and stripping procedure.
