Powder Coatings Ltd have been Powder Coating components for local & national companies for over 45 years. What are the key features that have enabled us hold on to our position as one of the West Midlands premier powder coating companies?
Quality Powder Coating
We have always produced quality work. Components are coated to the correct specification all of the time. Coating parts to a standard that satisfies the customer is the most important part of our Company Policy.
Service
We keep our promises regarding delivery and turnaround of work. If we quote a turnaround time of 3 days then we stick to that. You will never have to chase us. Your parts will be ready as per the delivery promise that was agreed. Added to this is a friendly and prompt response to any queries that you may have.
Organisation
We are an efficient business, ‘a place for everything and everything in its place’ That is our motto. Our 15,000 square foot factory is well organised and tidy at all times. No work is processed until a dedicated Route Card is produced that gives our trained works staff detailed instruction on the processes to be followed for each and every batch of work we produce.
Flexibility
The layout of our factory allows us to coat small batches of work just as efficiently and quickly as larger batches. We have three production lines, one for small batches, one for medium batches and a larger online conveyorised facility. We don’t mind if a batch of work is small or large. Everyone gets the same prompt & courteous service.
Reliability
Finally we are reliable. We don’t do one batch of work properly and the next one not to the same standard. We keep going producing high quality work time after time batch after batch.
Powder Coating Services
There is more to Powder Coating than just applying the powder & putting the parts in an oven. The most important issue is Pre-treatment, if the surface is not free of grease, oils, rust or scale then a quality finish is impossible to achieve.
All components we process are firstly Vapour Degreased. This process has proven over many years to be the most efficient way to remove grease & oils and prepare the surface for coating. A further option to improve the quality of preparation is to Pre-Treat parts. Steel parts can be Zinc Phosphated and Aluminium or Zinc parts Chromated, this process converts a few microns of the surface into a dense crystalline structure that helps with corrosion resistance and creep.
Facilities:
There are three main varieties of powder available.They are based on two resin types; either Epoxy ( harder and tougher ) or Polyester ( good weatherabilty ) and a blend of the two called Epoxy/Polyester.
We can provide advice on which powder is suitable for your products.
Polyester powders: have excellent durability and a high resistance to yellowing under ultra-violet light. Polyester powder coatings are designed for external use as they have very good colour and gloss retention in outdoor situations & where Ultra Violet stability and weather resistance is needed.
Epoxy Powders: provide a hard, impact resistant coating generally used for interior parts. Epoxy coatings give very good corrosion & impact resistance as well as good adhesion. Unfortunately they are not suitable for external use and will form a chalk like appearance on the surface after lengthy exposure to sunlight.
Epoxy polyester powders: are a blend of the two resin types. They have properties similar to those of epoxy powders, with improved weatherability. Epoxy Polyester powders are the best choice for all round performance and the most popular powders in use today.

Powder Coatings Ltd are able to offer comprehensive advice on all Powder Coating Masking requirements you may have, we source products from all the major masking suppliers as well as commissioning bespoke masking solutions for components that cannot be masked using off the shelf materials.
There will often be occasions when the parts that you make require certain areas to be kept free from Powder Coating.
