About Base Concrete

We are a family run business based in Hemel Hempstead, established in 2002, delivering ready mixed concrete to DIY and trade customers

We pride ourselves on having helpful and friendly staff, and always aim to leave your site clean and tidy, which you don’t always find in our industry

We can offer small lorries (the same size as a 6 yard skip lorry), these lorries can carry up to 4.5m

Also 8m size lorries for larger amounts and when you have better access

Or for when you have bad access we can offer our concrete line pumps

Our concrete pumps are becoming increasingly popular as they can be the answer to bad access and also save on labour costs and speed up progress of the project.

We can deliver a wide variety of concrete mixes from a shed base to water proof concrete.

READY MIX CONCRETE
The benefits of ready mix concrete:
Every one of the mixes that we supply comes from QSRMC accredited plant and conforms to British Standard BS8500-2

This means that for every 50 – 100m of concrete that is produced a cube sample (a small cube shaped box full of concrete) is taken to a lab and crush tested to see if it stands up to to the newton force that the mix is supposed to be, eg. C35 has to withstand 35 newtons of force.

When we produce ready mix concrete in North London and deliver to your site in a mixer lorry, it has had time to thoroughly mix right the way through the concrete; so you are getting the true accredited mix delivered to you. Other systems of delivery that mix onsite can’t offer this, which could lead to inconsistent strength and possible cracking, also in the colder weather conditions mixing onsite doesn’t generate any heat from the concrete where ready mixed can, as in transit to your site the concrete is constantly turning over in the drum and generating heat with the lime in the cement.

CONCRETE PUMPS
Pumps are becoming increasingly popular as they speed up the projects plus also save on labour cost of having to move the concrete manually

Our concrete pumps are line pumps, this means that they run along the ground using steel and rubber pipes.

These are very popular as they are mounted on 7.5 tonne lorries so they aren’t very big but can run upto 100m in length

Each lorry carries 60m of pipe so if you do need more than that please let us know before we arrive as we wouldn’t want to arrive with not enough pipe.

COMMERCIAL CONCRETE
Here are our most common commercial mixes

Any mix you don’t see, don’t hesitate to call us as we can supply any mix you need.

DOMESTIC CONCRETE
These are our most common mixes which will probably cover all your needs

Any mix you don’t see, don’t hesitate to call us as we can supply any mix you need

The C mixes are letting you know the newton strength of the mix so the higher the number the more cement content

Ex C35 is stronger than C20
  • Gen1 (C15) is a basic foundation mix for single story extensions and wall footings and conservatories.
  • Gen3 (C20) is a foundation mix also which is used for double story extensions and also internal floor mix and shed base’s.
