Our History
Ground Control is a UK-based grounds maintenance company powered by the latest technology. Since launching in 1973, Ground Control has grown rapidly and now provides full national coverage for our customers wherever they are based in the UK.
We deliver a range of services, including grounds maintenance, winter gritting, landscape construction, design, arboriculture, electric vehicle charging point installation to more than 50,000 commercial properties across the UK.
Today, we are investing in a unique set of sustainability initiatives. Now a fully carbon-neutral company, in 2020 we launched the Evergreen Fund, dedicating 5% of our annual net profits to a £5 million Impact Venture Fund committed to environmental initiatives and carbon sequestration.

Ground Control helps bring beauty back to Welsh valley
Ground Control, the UK’s leading external solutions provider, has been working with Natural Resource Wales (NRW) and Ford Motor Company on a huge 30 hectare woodland creation project; turning an abandoned coal mine in South Wales into community woodland.
Preparatory works commenced in November last year, kicking off the extensive ten year project that will see the former Coegnant Colliery and Maesteg Washery site transformed into an all-new Llynfi Valley woodland.
Working with the architect, Wardell Armstrong LLP, and supporting the extensive project; Ground Control supplied and sorted 60,000 trees of a variety of different species; broad leaf, ornamental and fruit trees, as well as marking colour coordinated canes to assist planting as part of a large community involvement programme.
Throughout the six-day community engagement event, Ground Control worked with local community members and seven local schools planting a mixture of trees throughout National Tree Week.
Not only will the project create a cleaner, greener space for people to enjoy, the new woodland is intended to tackle the risk of flooding by restricting how much water is able to flow off the site. It will also create habitats that will support a greater variety of wildlife and help boost local biodiversity in the valley.
Ground Control’s Construction Manager, Mark Stokes, who assisted with the project commented:
“At Ground Control, we care about the environment, so to be able to work on this project to create beautiful new woodland for all to enjoy is great. The involvement from the community is astounding; a true excitement to bring the land to life. We are delighted to be a part of it.”
The Llynfi Valley Community Woodland was renamed Coetir Ysbryd y Llynfi, which means The Spirit of Llynfi Woodland in English.
