About David Hetherington Environmental & Planning Services
My business has been running since 2001, first working with the Countryside Stewardship Scheme and then the Environmental Stewardship Schemes.
Brought up on a 200 acre mixed farm, I worked for 15 years at Harrison & Hetherington Ltd as a Land Drainage and Planning Consultant. After farming for 8 years, I then spent 5 years at Hopes of Wigton preparing environmental schemes and planning applications.
I worked with the Environmental Stewardship scheme from its initial launch, attending all training days and Natural England / FEP agent meetings. In 2012 I prepared 8 FEPs (Farm Environmental Plans) resulting in HLS/ELS-UELS agreements covering approximately 1,200 ha / 3,000 acres.
I have prepared Water Level Management Plans for both the CSS & HLS covering areas ranging from 2 ha to 47 ha. In the case of the 47 ha scheme I regularly liaised with the contractor keeping him informed as to the requirements and fine tuning the scheme as ditches were regraded and undetected field drains were discovered.
When amending schemes I worked closely with Natural England field officers ensuring that the capital works side of the agreements was updated to cover the work done on site.
Environmental Services
Planning Services
In addition to my environmental work, I also submit planning applications for farm buildings, slurry towers, lagoons etc. I give advice regarding additional farm dwellings and where I believe an application may be successful, will carry out an agricultural appraisal and submit an outline planning application.
I am more than happy to have a chat to see how I can be of assistance.
