Cottrell Plumbing & Heating Ltd

Richard Cottrell has done our plumbing for several years, in our last cottage we had a new boiler fitted and he did the maintenance on a gas fire, my husband (who was no mean plumber himself) said the the copper piping that connected the boiler was " a work of art" as was the making good of the hole in the two feet thick Cotswold stone wall of our cottage where the old flue had been....totally invisible.
Because of his work we recommended him to neighbours who also needed a new boiler. They were also delighted.
In November 2016 my husband and I moved to a ground floor apartment only 50 yards from our old property. It was going to be a "project" for my husband, it had been rented out for 15 years and was in need of a lot of work. Sadly only 4 weeks after moving my husband died very suddenly after only 5 days in hospital. When he was first in hospital the heating and hot water packed up...I had no idea that the two were connected ( I know !!) I asked my husband just prior to him being put into an induced coma... what to do,and he said phone Richard Cottrell, which I did on my return from hospital .
Richard came out immediately..I was in bits and he gave me a cuddle and let me cry then got on with replacing something in the boiler and fitting a new thermostat .
My husband prior to moving had arranged for Richard to fit a new boiler to replace the existing one that was 15 years old and prone to breaking down as well as several other jobs that badly needed doing.
I have continued with his wishes and so far I have had a new Combi boiler, two ladder radiators installed in the bathrooms, a radiator removed and replaced in the lounge and now I am in the process of having the two bathrooms gutted and replaced with new showers, loos,basins, flooring and tiling etc. Richard brought heaps of brochure for me to choose from and offered advice when it was necessary. ( most of the time)
I dont drive so after work one afternoon he even drove me to Topps Tiles to help me choose tiles for the showers.
An ex neighbour who is in her 90s was having trouble with her boiler just after I had mine fitted and when Richard was doing some other work at my place I recommended him to her daughter. She met Richard and he subsequently fitted a new boiler for her mother....she was delighted...she said that she wouldnt have known a tradesman had been , everything was so tidy and clean....plus Richard had even made her mother cups of tea during his time there..another satisfied customer !
I would and indeed HAVE recommended Richard Cottrell to anyone of my friends who need any plumbing work done,knowing that they would be completely satisfied. I cannot endorse his work highly enough. In between doing my work he was also taking exams.....(I guess to keep up to speed with new technology.)
I would warn anyone however if they are thinking of employing Richard, there are a few things of which they should be aware.
He listens to Radio 2 on a massive radio.
He needs lots of lubrication by way of tea
( milk no sugar)
Likes chocolate chip muffins and....
Sings loudly and not alway in key.
I have no hesitation in recommending Richard Cottrell.....thoroughly lovely guy with a great sense of humour (and the ridiculous).
If there was higher rating than 5 stars he would get it.
