Shield Coatings Ltd are proud to be one of the largest independent manufacturers and suppliers of water based coatings/paints to the joinery and building industries in the UK. Shield Coatings Ltd was established in 1995 as a direct result of the union between Shield Decorative Paints and Manchester Polymer Coatings.

We supply water based coatings from 5 litres to 1000 litres from our premises in West Yorkshire. Our water based paints benefit from 70 years' waterborne coatings technology.

Joinery Coatings
The joinery coating system developed by Shield Coatings and known as AQUASHIELD is a composite system comprising of primer coats, base coats and opaque or translucent top coats to enable a fully finished joinery system. It has been specifically developed for the protective and decorative treatment of softwood and hardwood timbers.

Aquashield is a truly waterborne system ensuring that it is a completely environmentally friendly process. The use of alkyd resin and acrylic resin polymers have been combined to provide a coating system which provides durability, high build, high adhesion with a choice of satin or gloss finishes.

A free, comprehensive colour matching facility is available to suit the needs of individual customers.

Isobloc ST Primer
ISOBLOC ST is an isolating and stain blocking primer for use on softwoods and where a proliferation of knots is present. The chemistry and physical properties of this primer differentiate it from other wood primers. The primer should be used on timbers where the staining potential is high, due to the presence of natural pigments, tannins and other water extractible substances that may cause unwanted discolouration marks or stains in subsequent top coats.

Multiflex Primer
Multiflex primers combine adhesion, penetration properties of oil based alkyd primers together with the durability and fast drying properties of acrylics in a single priming system. A high solids/resin composition suitable for both softwoods and hardwoods is available.

Multiprime Colour Base
Multiprime Colour Base is a stain coating, developed for the decoration and partial protection of softwood and hardwood joinery. COLOURBASE is an acrylic resin base coat with high penetration of timber, high adhesion,with protection against mould, fungi and blue-stain. Colourbase may be applied by brush dip, vacuum machine or flow (flood) coat process.
