About Mondrian Glazing
Mondrian windows and doors are made to measure by the artisan fabricators at IQ Metal. All of our steel systems are finished and welded individually by hand, ensuring the strength and quality of each welded connection. When you place an order for a Mondrian window or door our expert architectural metal workers get to work, collating the specialist materials for your project and finalising measurements. All glazing is selected in line with your design and can be tailored to your exacting requirements.
Materials and Finishes
Galvanised Steel
Galvanised Steel is by far the most common framing material for steel windows and doors. This steel alloy offers the strength benefits of steel with a reduced capacity for oxidisation or rust. The smooth surface of galvanised steel can then be finished with a polyester powder coat to create a steel window frame in any colour you need.
Corten Steel
COR-TEN steel is just a trademarked name for Weathered Steel which is a group of steel alloys developed to create a corrosion resistant steel that didn’t need painting or finishing. It is created by accelerating the natural oxidisation of steel to form a layer of iron oxide, or rust, on the surface of the steel frame. This rusted outer coating seals the steel profile, preventing further oxidisation or corrosion to the steel over time.
Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel is a stable steel alloy created using a mixture of iron, carbon, nickel and molybdenum. The resulting steel material is highly resistant to corrosion whilst maintaining the mechanical properties and strength of steel. There are various versions of stainless steel which contain different balances of the various alloy component materials, each of which can be finished in different ways. Stainless Steel alloy 316L is a stainless steel material that is suitable to be used in harsh external environments, such as marine or coastal environments. Stainless Steel 316L can be finished with a scotch-brite or polished finish.
Architectural Bronze
Architectural Bronze is a modern alloy that is made from a mixture of copper, zinc and various additional metals to create different bronze alloys with varying characteristics. The copper element of the metal’s makeup provides the material with high levels of corrosion resistance. Zinc offers the metal high levels of tensile strength and durability which allow the metal to be used to create extremely slim profiles with high durability.
Products
Thermally Broken
Thermally broken systems are used to create insulated windows and doors, with high levels of thermal performance. If your window or door is going to be separating two different climates, the inside and the outside of a home for instance, you must use a window or door system that is thermally broken.
Non Thermally Broken
Whether you are looking for a sliding door to divide an open plan living area or some steel framed partitions for a modern office design, our range of internal steel framed doors will offer you a luxury finish.
Aluminum Solutions
Our heritage windows offer a steel look window design with a thermally broken aluminium profile. The minimal aluminium framing is paired with a steel effect glazing bar and bespoke arrangements of glazing bars to produce a truly authentic design. These steel look windows are perfect for renovation projects, replacement windows or projects looking to create an industrial Shoreditch design to their glazing.
