About G&G Powder Coatings Ltd
Providing durable coatings with assurance of lasting quality
Formed in June 1987 by high school friends Gary Barber and Graeme Langford, G&G Powder Coatings Ltd established its roots at a small factory premises in Silvertown, London. Upon expansion in 1998, G&G Powder Coatings Ltd relocated to its current day 9000ft2 premises adjacent to the A13 in Barking, Essex.
Our aim
Providing customers with the quick turn around times they require, whilst maintaining the highest standard of coating, is where we endeavour to excel.
Maintaining relationships
With a number of manufactures in the steel and aluminium industry, alongside three key members of staff having worked with us for over 20 years, we take the time to solidify a continuing relationship with employees and clients alike.
Why choose powder coating?
Unlike conventional wet painting or spraying, powder coating is electrostatically charged and requires no solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. This not only provides a much tougher and more durable finish versus wet painting; it emits no volatile organic compounds, and is therefore environmentally friendly.
Powder coating can produce a much thicker coating skin than conventional liquid coatings, without running or sagging.
Powder-coated items generally have fewer appearance differences between horizontally coated surfaces and vertically coated surfaces, compared to liquid-coated items.

- With three decades of experience within the industry, G&G Powder Coatings Ltd has established a broad clientele spanning a variety of industries. Previous projects include Stansted Airport, the Gherkin and the Olympic Village.
- G&G Powder Coatings Ltd are the only powder-coating company to have obtained approved applicator status from Axalta powder coatings within the London area (one of less than 20 nationwide), and are also approved applicators of PPA571 ‘warm-to-touch’ nylon coating.
- We carry in excess of 1000 powders in stock, and can provide a number of finishes including metallic, texture, leatherette, antique, wrinkle, powder to match anodising, ultra matt, matt, satin and gloss ...
- We can process aluminium, brass, bronze, electro-plated galvanised steel, hot-dip galvanised steel, stainless steel (polished and brushed), zintec and plain mild steel up to 7.8 metres in length, 2.9 metres in height and 2.0 meters in width with almost no restriction on weight.
- We also provide the following powder-coating ranges: anti-bacterial powder, anti-graffiti powder, architectural-grade polyester powder, epoxy polyester powder, epoxy powder, polyurethane powder and a zinc-rich powder primer. As standard, all of our powders are of architectural grade.
- We accept work from both commercial and private customers. A delivery and collection service is available if required.
- After thoroughly checking your materials, they will be subject to our environmentally friendly, five-stage non-chrome pre-treatment system (the first of its kind in the country). After which, we will allocate your job to one of our fully trained powder coating applicators, assuring a standard of the highest quality. As approved applicators of Axalta powder coatings, if requested, we are able to offer a certificated 25 year guarantee for aluminium items.
- Articles that are very difficult to coat due to their unique shape or size will be assigned to operators who have had at least 15 years powder-coating experience, ensuring even the most complex projects will achieve the same high level of finish.
- Once coated, your materials will be placed in a curing oven. These ovens are capable of curing items up to 7.8 metres in length, 2.9 metres in height and 2.0 metres in width with almost no restriction on weight.
- After curing, your items are then removed and allowed to cool prior to undergoing inspection. Test panels are coated daily, allowing us to carry out in-house durability tests, verifying your materials have been powder coated to the exacting standards laid down by the powder manufacturers.
- Once we are 100% happy that your products are to specification, they will be suitably packaged for dispatch. Plastic bubble wrap affords the best protection during transportation, or in the instance of particularly heavy items, we will use correx board to offer further protection to corners, edges and, if warranted, entire panels.
