About Westmorland Flat Roofing Ltd
Flat Roofing
Are you worried about your flat roof? Is your flat roof leaking, cracking or does it have large amounts of moss on the surface. These are all signs of the roof having failed and in need of replacement.
Insulation
Increasing insulation is one of the most cost-effective ways to reduce bills and can have a payback period within only a few years. Extra insulation does not just keep us warmer during cold periods but also makes our environment more comfortable when it is hot.
Roof Lights
Enhance your living and working environment with the introduction of roof lights. Roof lights are available in a wide range of sizes, shapes, glazing, ventilation and opening options.
Balconies & Balustrades
Ever considered that your flat roof could be extra living space? We can carry out the complete service from design to installation including the waterproofing, decking, edge protection and access.
Green Roofs
The benefits of a Green Roof are far ranging including creating unique and undisturbed habitat, managing storm water run off, prolonging the life of the waterproofing membrane apart from the aesthetical and wellbeing a green roof brings to our everyday living.
Services
Flat Roofing
A flat roof is more than just waterproofing. It has to be properly designed to allow water to drain, be insulated above living areas, correctly detailed at junctions and robust to allow access for building maintenance. We design and fit roofs from the walls upwards all in conjunction with Building Regulations and Codes of Practices and where necessary will have them independently inspected and signed off.
We only use products which have good BBA certification, are tried and tested over many years, are only sold to licenced and trained contractors and offer robust warranties. All roofs are different and as experienced contractors we find the correct solution and do not try and make one product fit all. We do not use GRP Fibre Glass products.
Insulation
As the cost of energy continues to rise and global warming begins to have a greater effect on our lives and world economies, it is becoming more important to consider energy conservation in our homes and workplaces. Increasing insulation is one of the most cost-effective ways to reduce bills and can have a payback period within only a few years. Extra insulation does not just keep us warmer during cold periods but also makes our environment more comfortable when it is hot.
Roof Lights
Rooflights are available in a wide range of sizes, shapes, glazing, ventilation and opening options. The most economic are Polycarbonate rooflights and are available in a choice of profile, Domes, Pyramids and Thermoformed Barrel Vaults as well as a variety of glazing options clear, diffused, opal and bronze.
Polycarbonate Rooflights meet Building Regulations if they are triple or quadruple skinned. Glazed lights are recommended over bedrooms as they are less noisy during times of heavy rain. They are also available in various finishes including self-cleaning and the frames come in a variety of finishes and colours. Opening lights can be automated.
Balconies & Balustrades
Balconies can transform your flat roof from an unused neglected area to a space where you can relax whilst enjoying great views and fresh air. Access can be from doors leading directly onto the balcony from a bedroom, living room or an external stairway.
It is important to consider your neighbours and any planning restraints before considering a balcony or terrace as previously private areas can become overlooked. You will also need to consider the existing waterproofing as it may be worth renewing or overlaying prior to fitting the new surface finishes. We can carry out a thorough survey and advise.
Green Roofs
Is a roof that is completely or partially covered with vegetation. The roof is first waterproofed with a single ply membrane which is integrity tested prior to the green roof being installed.
Over the membrane we lay a fleece protection layer followed by a water retention and drainage board. On top of this we then lay the growing medium and the sedum or wildflower blanket. We can provide a waterproofing and service only if you wish to fit your own green roof and will of course advise on what is needed and how it is fitted.
