Reviews & Testimonials for Universal Trade Windows
After an initial problem with lost paperwork, I had my windows fitted on April 16th 2024. The fitters were very polite and professional and did an excellent job. Also I wish to say a huge thankyou to Michelle, Custom Liaison officer, for being so helpful and keeping me informed of things. I have now booked in for my back windows in October.

Had Universal Trade Windows out to change a front door that was old and tired and the other half wanted to update it to a modern one. From the Quote to measure up i have been kept informed at all stages and will be using Universal again for windows in the future and would recommend again

I singed my contract with the UTW in MAY 2022. Since May until October I didnt receive any updates on the progress of the job. In October it took me and my wife almost 15 phone calls just to get any updates on the job.
In the first week of November, on my arrival back to my house I realised my old porch just vanished. No prior phone calls, no informations why and who. The porch just gone. Obviously subcontractors didnt bother talking to me about bricklaying or anything else. After another few days I was shocked again by a hideous dwarf wall which just happened to appear on my property. I purposely had to take a day off to confront the bricklayers and force them to rearrange the wall. It would not take place if the UTW had any decency to communicate with me about theirs plans.
The bricklaying was done immediately after heavy rain day before. Bricks were so wet that mortar just got soaked in by the bricks. Also night after the major part of the wall was put together, the temperature dropped bellow 5 degrees. Only time will show how stable is the whole construction. I actually asked one my neighbours, who is a professional builder, to have a look on the wall and judge the stability of the wall. And he had some concerns. It was also obvious that there was not enough mortar in-between the bricks on the top layer. I asked the bricklayers to refill the gaps but not much was done about it.
The same contractors left a pile of building materials on my property. It is now second half of December, two weeks before Christmas and UTW simply refuses to collect them. And it looks like I will have to arrange a skip to get rid of the pile of rubbish they left. On the top of all the problems the gentlemen who put the wall together left so much mess that my front garden is essentially sealed with mortar.
The rest of the project went through slightly better. The actual windows were fitted after about a week. However, this part of the porch is not without problems either. The internal window sills are so badly aligned that it almost aching my eyes. Again I am planning to replace them with profiles I can possibly buy in B&Q.
Overall, it was a shocking service. For over 6 month I felt like I was the project manager for the porch which UTW supposed to build.
And I can tell all the potential victims who are reading my review, Universal Trade Windows is extremely fast when it comes to payments. The seal in my porch was still hot when I got a phone call asking me to pay the remaining part of the whole project. And the lady on the phone didnt quite paid attention to my objections.
One of the selling points of the UTW is very long (10 years) warranty. Considering lack of communication UTW suffer from I can only assume the warranty is worthless.
The only reason why I gave them 2 stars is because I finally have smth what with a bit of imagination I can call a porch
Shocking service.

Built the wrong frame, fitted it anyway but upside down, seemed OK so signed it off, a few hours later the window broke, have been calling and emailing them for 6 weeks and keep getting told someone will contact us to sort it but they never do.

Poor communication. badly fitted windows, not honouring 10-year warranty. BE AWARE. our Frontage, Bedroom window shakes and rattles in the wind and frontage bathroom window does not close or lock, very unsafe. installed in Oct-2018, I have been ringing them since Mar-2020 with no reply. I got through once and they literally said they Dont Care... explains it all
