O'Brien Asbestos Removal

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral which has been used extensively in some 500,000 buildings in the UK. Where removal/encapsulation is required the O’Brien Group has the infrastructure and expertise to accommodate both minor works and multi million pound projects.

All projects are managed in line with legislation and industry best practice by our trained and competent asbestos teams. Our expert contract managers specifically plan the work through our comprehensive plans of work/risk assessments which detail the key elements of the task and safe systems of work to be used. Regular monitoring of onsite activity is undertaken by internal/external safety teams/managers and directors.

We have held a full HSE removal licence since 1983 and are full members of the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA). As part of our membership with ARCA we achieved the prestigious Site Audit Accreditation (SAAS) Award in recognition of the exceptionally high standards, safe working methods and management systems applied by the company during asbestos removal works. To satisfy the requirements of our membership we are subjected to regular audits by independent expert’s auditors from ARCA.

• Asbestos surveys to MDHS 100 standards
• Soft strip of buildings with asbestos content (we have experienced asbestos/demolition operatives)

We have a large fleet of modern asbestos vehicles as well as modern asbestos removal equipment such as wet strip equipment, H type vacs, negative pressure units and decontamination units. All of our equipment is regularly serviced by specialist’s engineers to ensure it is in working order in line with HSE guidance.

Training
The O’ Brien group have a detailed training policy and plan in place (in conjunction with the CITB) and are committed to the long term retention of employees. We recognise the need for the continued professional development of employees and aim to provide them with the necessary training and support to complete their role safely, efficiently and to their full potential. The company has a considerable training budget for the training and development of employees and we recognise that our employees are our most important asset.
