First Door Stripping

We send 8 doors in to be stripped, sanded and oiled at a considerable cost of £710. This is a consideration amount of money especially when we were only going to originally get the doors stripped and sanded but was talked into the oil by the delivery driver.

Overall we are disappointed with the end product and were expecting a higher quality finish more given the cost.

Firstly, we appreciate the work that went in to remove all the paint from the doors. From this perspective they come back really well with very little residue paint remaining.

However, aside from that we were disappointed with the following:
- All doors had 4 staples left in them. Appreciate this is on the “inner side” of the door but these have all been left in and now are very visible on all the doors when they are open. If we remove them marks will remain where they were. This is not good enough.
- One of the doors was returned without the latch. Appreciate its an old door and it may have fallen out but now I need to try and source another one which will fit which I shouldn’t have to.
- A number of the doors we returned “rough” with splitters visible and standing out. Again appreciate doors are old and in various condition but I would expect that the sanding service would mean that the areas of the door are smooth and not rough.
- One of the doors had an oil running down it
- The tops of some of the doors seem to be forgotten or at the very least not given the same amount of attention.

There was little communication during the process. We had to ring several times to follow up and get an understanding of when the doors would be returned. The first time we were just told “Once your order is ready, we will let you know about the delivery time and we would receive more details on our delivery in the next hours.” It would have been helpful to understand they wouldn’t be delivered that week rather than have us wait until later Friday to confirm they wouldn’t be delivered the next day as we hadn’t received any notification or more details. We then rang the following Friday and was told the status would need to be checked with the workshop. We finally got told late in the day they would be delivered the next day between 2-4. Again it would have been helpful to know this information earlier in the week.

I connect the company to respond to my feedback but never received anything

I am happy that we restored our doors instead of buying new ones. Saved fortune on buying and fitting new ones and yet my old doors feel so original. Great job first door stripping, if you can only come on site and do the frames also. something to think about :-)

Great service, I had cupboard door stripped, sanded and oiled. Office, collection delivery all lovely and informative. Turnaround took just over a week. Will use First Door Stripping again in future when we are ready for the internal doors.

Just received my doors, so pleased. Last time I saw them layers and layers of uneven white paint. Very very pleased.
