Absolute shambles of a contractor. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

We hired Site Lines Installations for a straightforward kitchen extension project and our experience was far from what was sold to us by Mark.

He completely misjudged the costs and timeline of our project which has left us in a position where we need to complete the majority of the project ourselves.

The project started out ok but we soon hit complications when the steel beam measurements or design were not checked properly by Mark, resulting in the steels having to be modified at extra cost, the project design having to be adjusted and causing a delay to the project. After the RSJ’s were in place and walls removed, the modular wall system and roof went up according to plan (or so we were told). We expected some cracking to the ceiling in the bathroom above our kitchen but these ended up being much bigger than we expected with chunks of plaster falling away.

At the point of installation of the wall and roof, Mark subcontracted the installation of the roof tiles (without telling us he was doing so) to another company, removed the majority of his tools from site and informed us that he would not be returning to the project until he had taken some time to "get his desire back".

During the following week we grew less and less confident that Mark and his son Joe would actually return. Furthermore, the new contractors identified evidence of poor workmanship including; incorrect floor height in the new construction, misalignment of the skylight windows, incorrect roof baton placement and (most significantly) a roof that wasn’t actually level.

At this point, we decided not to proceed any further with Site Lines Installations as we were not confident that Mark and Joe could deliver what we needed to a good enough standard.

Luckily, these new contractors were sympathetic to our situation and kindly helped to rectify the issues where possible and complete what they could to progress our project.

During this time we contacted Somerset Building Control to confirm when they would be visiting site and it turns out that Mark had not informed them of the works he was completing and they were completely unaware that our project had commenced. As we were now a fair way through the project they quickly visited site where they discovered that the hip between the two roof segments had been completely bodged - it was made up of several random pieces of wood (where it should be one continuous support) and that Mark had covered up this area so that no one would see.

Because of this, we had to hire a structural engineer to visit site and design a new internal support to rectify the incorrect (and dangerous) installation of the roof by Mark.

Following the whole ordeal, we submitted a court claim to recover some of the money that we’d invested with Mark and, to his credit, we reached an agreement on an amount that he would reimburse us. Although this has assisted with the remedial work that was required to make safe/ correct Mark’s work, we were still left with little to no budget remaining and a very long way to go to get to a functioning kitchen, let alone the completed kitchen, pantry and downstairs bathroom that was promised.

Overall, we’ve had a completely miserable, stressful, experience and have ended up with a kitchen and dining room that is not what we were originally promised.

PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY. We had a flat roof on our kitchen extension replaced and replacement windows, this company assured us we didn’t need building control, after consulting our local council we were advised that building control was required and on inspection we were told that the work did not meet standards. We had to pay to have work redone including replacing a lintel (they’d used a garage lintel) and digging up plumbing which has been put in back to front.
Payment was requested in advance, for materials and then we were presented with a very large bill for electrics, which we asked for justification on. Nothing came.
Avoid at all costs or do not pay for any work until you’re happy it’s been completed properly. Unreliable and shoddy workship most of the way through. Our new roof is still leaking!

What a shambles of a company we have had our kitchen opened up and a conservatory replaced with an extension. They have flooded my heating system twice and damaged my new kitchen cupboards, the ends of the splash backs on the unit’s are cut all different, the floor is a complete mess, some of the stoppers in the cupboards are missing and the ones that aren’t we found in the garden, some of the shelves in the cupboards don’t have any pegs to hold the shelves which were there when delivered, our washing machine broke we went to take the old one out and they had siliconed the kitchen unit to the side of our washing machine as the have cut the unit too short. The condenser pipe which was in the drainage of the conservatory is now been left dripping down the outside of the new extension instead of being redirected. We have given them 3 times to come back and finish we are now 6 months since our completion date and still haven’t come to sort!
Turned up today to replace the unit in the utility room so he could put a new end panel next to washing machine has left without saying he was going for me to go to the cupboard and the plumbing that he has just done leaking so call him and he doesn’t answer, was ment to do the plastic condenser Pipe and had done the wrong pipe.
