About Smith Heritage Surveyors
Smith Heritage Surveyors is a family-run, RICS-accredited building survey company that originated in Salisbury, Wiltshire in 2019. David started operating across Wiltshire and soon had enquiries coming in from far afield, thus our second office in Reading, followed by our London office followed shortly after, and we are now pleased to offer our services throughout the South of England and Wales. Our building surveyors work with buildings of all ages, but we specialise in listed and heritage buildings (buildings built pre 1930).

Our mission is to make it easy for our clients to achieve their property goals. We aim to debunk all things buildings and legislation, providing clear advice to help you make life-changing property decisions with confidence.

At Smith Heritage, we know that no two projects are the same. That’s why we tailor our service for each client’s requirements, ensuring we provide a first-class service every time.

About our RICS Level 3 Building Survey
The RICS Level 3 Building Survey is the most comprehensive report of its kind, providing an in-depth analysis of a property’s condition. The report also gives advice on any defects found, repairs and maintenance options. All surveys with Smith Heritage Surveyors are carried out by highly qualified, local and experienced surveyors.

RICS Building Surveys are suitable for older, pre-1930s properties or larger, unusual or altered buildings or those of non standard construction. You should also have a full Building Survey if you are planning any major work for your property

About our RICS HomeBuyer Survey
The RICS Level 2 Homebuyer Survey assesses the condition of a property and identifies any significant faults before a sale is complete. Your building surveyor will carry out a thorough inspection of the property and produce a comprehensive report detailing its condition. This will then enable you to make an informed decision before proceeding with the purchase.

About our Listed Building Surveys
A Listed Building Survey provides a comprehensive report of a building that is of architectural or historic interest. Carried out by a credited Building Conservation professional, the survey provides in-depth information on the building’s condition – like a RICS Level 3 Building Survey – but with additional detail specific to historic properties.

The surveyor will examine any changes made to the building, ensuring that they are legal and in line with all planning requirements. The report will also provide advice on any defects found, including repairs and maintenance options.

About our Damp & Timber Surveys
Damp & Timber Surveys provide detailed reports of the causes of damp in your property and how to solve it. Using innovative surveying technology, Smith Heritage Surveyors will assess the scale and identify the root cause of the problem.

About our Party Wall Services
Smith Heritage Surveyors are experts in the Party Wall Act and what it means for your property. If you are planning work near a neighbour’s boundary, you must comply with all requirements of the Act to avoid legal repercussions. Our chartered surveyors can guide you through each step of the Party Wall process, ensuring that you fully comply with all requirements.

About our Defects Surveys
Concerned about building defects? Our expert team provides comprehensive building defect inspections and reports for both residential and commercial properties. We identify defects such as cracks, leaks, and structural issues, and provide detailed reports to help you take the necessary steps to fix them.
