Finlock Gutter Problems
Damp, mould and leaks
Finlock gutters are designed in such a way that water frequently sits in them, eventually seeping down into the brickwork, leading to cracks which cause dampness and mould inside the property and even continuous leaks. The dampness and mould caused by deteriorating guttering are hazardous to the health of the occupants and create issues of peeling wallpaper, stains and tiles pulling off from the walls.
Failed lining
Most customers have had their gutters lined in the past and whilst lining used to work as a temporary solution many years ago, the gutters are now just too old to be repaired. When lining fails water can become trapped underneath it which then causes damp issues and further damage to the guttering.
Cold bridging
Cold bridging occurs when the cold and dampness of your concrete guttering meets the warm air of your home creating condensation which can lead to damp and mould around the windows and roofline. The damage of condensation and other issues can impact your interior décor as well as your wallet.
Leaking joints
One of the first tell-tale signs of failing concrete guttering is when you notice external leaks at the joins between the concrete blocks. After almost 70 years of being exposed to the elements along with expansion and contraction caused by temperate changes, deteriorates the joins in the guttering. Water will then start to leak through which can often leave a nasty stain down your brickwork or rendering.
