High-Tolerance Defined Movement Floors
With years of experience, McCullagh Concrete Ltd has developed advanced construction techniques to meet the highest surface regularity requirements. Traditionally, such floors required slow, long-strip methods. Using the Laser Screed, we have installed floors to FM1 standards—the highest category for general traffic in speculative buildings where VNA racking locations are yet to be determined.
Mesh Slabs
We employ a flexible approach to constructing floors, using wide bay or continuous pour techniques. This approach reduces conventional construction time and minimizes joints. Our methods are ideal for areas inaccessible by laser-leveling machines and can accommodate traditional reinforcement forms, such as mesh fabric or bar.
Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete
Steel fibers are a modern alternative to traditional steel fabric reinforcement. They help control early thermal contraction and prevent cracking caused by shrinkage. Concrete, while strong in compression, is brittle and weak under heavy external loads. To mitigate damage, fibers are evenly distributed throughout the concrete mix, creating 3-dimensional reinforcement.
Pile-Supported Floors
Certain sites require pile-supported slabs, especially in areas with poor ground conditions or where settlement and loading criteria are critical. McCullagh Concrete Ltd designs and constructs these floors using the latest steel fiber reinforcement methods. Each floor's reinforcement and construction method are customized to suit individual client requirements.

- Internal ground-bearing floor slabs: Jointed and jointless options, utilizing steel fiber technology or traditional reinforcement.
- Pile-supported slabs**: Designed with either tied steel or steel fiber reinforcement.
- Composite mezzanine floor slabs.
- External slabs: With monolithic dry shake applications in pigmented or natural concrete color.
- FM1, FM2, & FM3 flatness installations: In accordance with the Concrete Society Concrete Report 34 (TR34) 2003 edition, as well as DM 1, 2, & 3 (TR34, 4th edition).
- Grading & compaction: Utilizing our own laser-guided dozer for the final 50-100mm of the sub-base.
