About Surveytec - Matterport
Surveytech first started trading as Bencombe Hire Services in 1997, a company offering hire of surveying equipment. In 2015 the company acquired a new office and workshop in Mitcham, South London and rebranded as Surveytech. Since that time, Surveytech has been a Geomax Specialist Partner, giving them access to specialist training and service facilities so they can provide the best support possible for customers. Other brand parterships followed from some of the biggest names in surveying, non-destructive testing and reality capture. With a bespoke range from Matterport, GeoSLAM and Leica Geosystems for reality capture, Dji drones, Unicontrol Machine Control, Vivax Metrotech and Cable Detection for utility surveying and Screening Eagle for Structural analysis and Ground Penetrating Radar, Surveytech are able to boast technical solutions to almost any challenge that can be solved with geospatial technology. With a programme of ongoing training for their team and customers including regular webinars and videos, Surveytech have always tried to be an expert voice to help customers work more safely and efficiently.
Team
Surveytech is run by father and son, Tom and Matt Lacey. Tom Lacey began his career with Glen Survey ltd, carrying out surveys all over UK and as far afield as Nigeria and Iraq. He qualified as Engineering Surveyor through RICS. He then went on to become Technical Director for O’Halloran & O’Brien Ltd, a major Civil Engineering firm, before founding Bencombe Hire Services - the precursor to Surveytech - in 2003. Tom is a passionate supporter of GAA sports, especially hurling (it helps that he’s from Kilkenny, the county in Ireland who most dominates the sport)
Matt first began using surveying equipment aged fourteen when working a summer job on building sites, something he continued to do whilst earning a degree from Oxford University. After graduating, he joined Surveytech and has since trained in surveying technologies and theory and archaeology with a particular focus on GIS and laser scanning. Outside of Surveytech, Matt occasionally works as an actor, appearing as a regular character in BBC sitcom, Cuckoo, amongst other things.Hire
Affordable Survey Equipment Hire in London:
Hiring is easy and straightforward with us - just fill in your details and a member of the team will be in contact.
We aim to provide the best equipment at the lowest price. We work hard to keep our overheads low by servicing all the equipment in-house so that we can pass those savings on to our customers. But that’s not the only reason - we do our best to provide expert support across our product lines. With both industry experience and plenty of training courses under our belts, we hope to have the answer to most of your questions, and if we don’t, we’ll find someone who does. As a Geomax specialist partner we’re constantly training and learning about the latest developments so that we can better understand what’s new and how it can make an engineer’s life easier.
Our hire fleet is broadly made up of equipment from Leica and its sister-brand Geomax, but we can acquire Trimble, Topcon, Spectra or any other brand if the project requires it. So come to us for all of your Cable Avoidance Tools, gennies, pipe lasers, rotating lasers, optical levels, GPS/GNSS receivers, total stations (robotic and manual), pipe cameras, clegg testers, schmidthammers or anything else you might need - if we don’t have it in stock we can order most things in.
Service
Our technicians have been trained at Geomax International Headquarters in Wulfrath, Germany in the service of pipe lasers including the Zeta125 and 125s, rotating lasers including the Zone and Agatec spectrum and grade lasers as well as the full range of manual total stations including the Zipp10 Series, Zipp20 series, Zoom20 Pro and accXess series, Zoom30 Pro series and Zoom35 Pro series. Our workshop is fully kitted out with the latest in collimation technology and we keep some spare items in stock so that repairs will be speedy, getting your instrument back out and avoiding lost days of work.
We have also been trained by Cable Detection and equipped with a full rig for calibration of their Ezisystem range. Make sure you get your Cable detectors calibrated annually so that you're not held liable in case of a strike!
