£350,000 Climate Change Funding For Sheffield

Community groups across Sheffield have the chance to access part of a £350,000 funding pot available to help reduce the impact of climate change. The funding is available through each of the Sheffield City Council's seven Community Assembly teams.

The funding can assist with a variety of schemes providing the project helps to improve energy efficiency and reduce the potential impacts of climate change such as water butts, solar panels and wind turbines. It could be used for car pool clubs, community vehicles, gardens for fruit trees and vegetable growing and other low carbon energy and energy efficiency technologies.


Councillor Shaffaq Mohammed, the Council's Cabinet member for Climate Change and Local Environment said: "I know that Sheffield's community groups play a vital role in reducing the impact of climate change. That's why we made setting up the new Climate Change Fund a priority."

"We all have a responsibility to look after our city and our planet. Sheffield has many great environmental projects but we still have work to do. I'm hopeful that our new £350,000 fund will provide a huge boost in the battle against Climate Change in Sheffield."
