The construction and housebuilding group, Galliford Try, has been appointed on five contracts in the affordable housing and regeneration sectors totalling £36.1 million.
A contract worth £20 million will see Galliford Try carrying out the design and build of a regeneration programme called The Tidemill School, Deptford Lounge and Resolution Studios in Deptford for the London Borough of Lewisham. The project will involve developing the new Tidemill Primary School that will be integrated with a new public building to be named the Deptford Lounge.
The Deptford Lounge will house a public library, a council service centre, a number of community rooms, office spaces, a cafe and health and leisure services. In addition Resolution Studios, 9 creative studio units , an art gallery and 38 one and two-bedroom homes will be built on the complex. Work is due to be completed in May 2011.
Galliford Try has also been appointed on three contracts worth a total of £14.3 million by Swan Housing Association to build a total of 128 affordable homes in East London.
A £1.8m contract has been secured by Galliford Try to remodel the 1st to 3rd Floors to form 69 self contained bed rooms at Anchor House, a hostel for homeless adults in Canning Town East London.
