Inspace has agreed a £20 million contract with Old Ford Housing Association, part of leading affordable housing provider Circle Anglia, for phase one of the £80 million regeneration of the Mardyke estate in Rainham.
Mardyke estate's entire regeneration involves replacing 516 homes with up to 555 houses comprising 339 general needs, 64 shared ownership and 152 private sale properties, plus re-provision of estate office, local shops and a new Primary Care Trust facility. It is one of the biggest housing association sponsored projects to receive planning permission this year and phase one starts on site now and involves 121 affordable units.
Inspace has also entered into a pre-development agreement for the Phase two design of Mardyke. The entire renewal of the estate will take around six years and the requirement for 20 per cent of energy from renewable sources will see a centralised energy centre with a Combined Heat and Power engine together with backup gas boilers.
The appointment continues a relationship with Old Ford that started over ten years ago and has seen the two organisations develop a long-term track-record in estate regeneration that includes re-providing nearly 1000 homes in Bow, east London during the late nineties and early part of this decade.
They have carried out over £200m of work together since 2000.
