Builder's Minibus Boost For Academy

Construction News Image
Students at City of London Academy-Islington will now be travelling to off-campus activities in a brand new minibus.

It's all thanks to a financial boost from the City of London Corporation and Galliford Try - the firm undertaking the construction of the academy's new building.

The new 16-seater minibus - with wheelchair access - will allow students to travel to sporting events and other activities.

Galliford Try is currently building the new City of London Academy-Islington, replacing Islington Green School which became an academy in 2008.

The construction involves a new academy building along with sports facilities which have already been completed. The academy is sponsored by The City of London Corporation and City University London.

Galliford Try's contribution towards the academy's transport costs is one of the company's several "working together initiatives" designed to enhance the curriculum and involve students in the provision of their new campus.

Galliford Try Construction South Director Dave Smith said: "We are delighted to assist the academy by helping to provide the mini bus which we hope will be of enormous benefit."
