Simon Machen has been appointed as Peterborough City Council's new Head of Planning Services.
Simon (41) joined the authority from East Lindsey District Council where he was the Business Manager for Planning Services. He brings with him 20 years of experience of planning services, having also worked for South Holland District Council and a number of authorities in North Yorkshire. He is a peer for the Improvement and Development Agency for local government (IDeA) and the Planning Advisory Service, both of which support improvement and innovation in local government.
He said: "I am looking forward to the challenge of helping to deliver the major projects that will help transform parts of Peterborough. We have an opportunity to create a lasting legacy for the city in terms of high quality new developments that will stand the test of time.
"I am also really interested in what our customers think of the planning service, the way we do business and how we can better meet their needs. The city council's planning service has already made improvements and now I am looking to take these to the next level."
Simon is responsible for planning delivery, building control, planning applications, planning enforcement, built heritage and natural conservation.
