Council Names New Suppliers Of Multi-Million Pound Contracts

Norwich City Council has announced the names of the successful suppliers to which it intends to award contracts for the delivery of its multi-million pound public facing services over the coming years.

From waste and recycling and council house repairs to multi-storey car park cleaning, the authority spends tens of millions every year on providing services for Norwich residents.

As the council's current arrangement with its main contractors, CityCare and Lovell, is due to come to and end on 31 March next year, it was required to put the contracts out to tender.

The council can confirm its intention to award contracts worth close to £30 million - which have been split into 11 lots - to four suppliers. Those suppliers are Connaught Partnerships Limited, Morrison Facilities Services Limited, Kier Support Services Limited and Norse Commercial Services Limited.

The council’s executive committee approved the intention to award the contracts to the four suppliers.

Renegotiation of all the council’s contracts has led to more than a £1 million saving within its general fund account - a sum that was built into the 2010-11 budget forecast.

Repair and maintenance costs of council homes, which are funded through the Housing Revenue Account (HRA), will deliver better value for money for the council.

Anton Bull, Head of Procurement and Service Improvement, said: "The contract relet process has been a long and very thorough process from start to end. We have remained fully committed to our guiding principle throughout the whole process - securing good quality services for best value for each contract that went out to tender.

"Following the statutory standstill period, the city council very much looks forward to working with all four suppliers when the new contracts begin on 1 April next year."
