The National Construction College (NCC) and the Construction Plant-Hire Association (CPA) have joined forces to launch a brand new course, designed to help depot plant managers and supervisors who are new to the role, get to grips with their responsibilities as managers.

The NCC developed the 'Depot Plant Manager' course after being approached by the CPA who had recognised a gap in training for those who are new to depot management and supervisory roles.


The five day course has been piloted across some of the College's seven campuses. It is split into five modules, which are taught over five consecutive days. It covers a variety of areas which are vital to those in management positions within the construction sector including: leadership and management, sustainability, health and safety supervision, legal responsibilities of a manager and financial responsibilities.

Andy Walder, Director of the NCC, said: "We pride ourselves on meeting the needs of industry by delivering expert training which helps workers carry out their jobs effectively. This is a perfect example of how we have been working with a respected industry body, such as the CPA, to ensure its members receive the correct training as required by industry, helping businesses ensure they get the most out of their management teams."
