Galliford Try Named Preferred Bidder on £24m Stadium Redevelopment
Galliford Try, the housebuilding and construction group, has been appointed preferred bidder on a £24 million project to redevelop Edgbaston International Stadium for Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
Galliford Try will undertake the design & construction of a new section of the stadium to provide world class player and media facilities. The new section of the stadium will seat 8,250 spectators and replaces the existing section of stadium which had a capacity of just under 5,000. The stadium will be in continuous use throughout the construction process.
Work on site is expected to start in March 2010 and completion is expected in July 2011.
Galliford Try Chief Executive Greg Fitzgerald commented: "We are delighted to have secured another significant contract in the sports facilities sector. This follows Galliford Try's successful completion of the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s Centre Court redevelopment at Wimbledon and more recently the completion of the Caterpillar Stand at Leicester Tigers Rugby Club’s Welford Road stadium - the UK's largest dedicated club rugby stadium. This latest contract to build first class facilities fit for International cricket further demonstrates our market position in this sector."
