First Time Buyers Offered Affordable Homes
First time buyers are being offered a new home at an affordable price by Middlesbrough's largest landlord.
Erimus Housing has a range of contemporary two bedroom apartments available in the heart of Middlesbrough on its St Paul’s development in Newport.
A range of tenure options are available on the properties, which all have an ensuite to the master bedroom, to offer home ownership to people who may previously have thought they could not afford it.
The homes in the 24 unit apartment block are available for affordable rent.
The 44 unit apartment block includes a range of tenure options including shared ownership, which means buyers can purchase 50% or 75% of the property and rent the rest from Erimus Housing until they can afford to buy a further share.
Chris Smith, Managing Director of Erimus Housing, said: "We have created these apartments in a sought after location that is a gateway into the town, to meet the aspirations of local people.
"These homes offer not only opportunities for people wanting to buy a starter home outright, they also offer a range of affordable options for people struggling to take the first step onto the property ladder."
More than £9 million is being spent creating the 94-property development, which lies on the former site of three unpopular blocks of maisonettes that were demolished in 2008 after they became a magnet for anti-social behaviour.
Now work on the scheme, which also includes 23 houses and three bungalows, is coming to an end and the properties are starting to be snapped up.
The apartments are nearing completion and a show apartment is open for viewing. One of the main features is an innovative heating system which is economical to run. Other features include a door entry system, lift to all floors and balcony.
