Housing Minister John Healey MP recently paid a visit to Durkan's £70 million regeneration project in Clapham to meet with local residents.
He discussed the current improvements to the Clapham Park Estate and asked residents what they expect to see in the future around the Estate.
Durkan's involvement in the regeneration project, on behalf of Clapham Park Homes (CPH) is taking place over a five year period and includes the refurbishment of over 500 existing homes for affordable housing, and the creation of a further 229 new homes for private sale and shared ownership. A new school, additional retail outlets, community centre and a new central park will also be created as part of the wider £455 million redevelopment programme.
Commenting on his visit Mr Healey said: "I was delighted to come and visit Clapham Park so I could see how the money we have ploughed into the area is being spent and so I could talk to local residents about what more we can do.
"The residents I spoke to told me that they were pleased to see the government investing in the area, building homes and supporting jobs – that is what we have been doing since 1997 on the Clapham Park Estate and we will continue to do so."
During his visit Mr Healey discussed the regeneration project with Durkan Site Manager, Ray Palmer and went on to tour the Estate with Keith Hill MP, local ward councillors, the Chair and Chief Executive of Clapham Park Homes and local residents.
