AMEC, the international engineering and project management company, has announced the acquisition of Currie & Brown (Australia) Pty Ltd, a leading Australian cost and commercial management consultancy from its shareholders for AU$36.4 million in cash.
Currie & Brown (Australia) is a provider of independent cost, contract and consulting services to the oil and gas, mining, building, transport, utilities and infrastructure sectors, with an excellent track record of success and high levels of repeat business for major regional and global customers.
Its services include engineering cost management and cost engineering, programming and scheduling services, contractual advice and dispute resolution, technical cost and scope auditing, facilities management consulting and quantity surveying and building cost management. The company has some 200 professional employees. It is headquartered in Brisbane and has offices in Adelaide, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
The acquisition is fully aligned with AMEC’s Vision 2015 strategy of assured growth through a strengthened geographic footprint and enhanced capabilities in key sectors.
"Acquiring Currie & Brown (Australia) is another important step in our strategy of providing independent business consultancy services worldwide and will further strengthen our capability to our customers both in Australia and internationally," said Neil Bruce, Executive Director of AMEC.
"The addition of high quality people makes this an excellent fit with Rider Hunt International (RHi), our leading project services consultancy, and the business also provides a good geographic fit with AMEC's delivery of services in both mature and frontier regions."
