Hörmann, have completed the installation of their latest specification high speed curtain doors to London City Airport firestation in only five weeks from confirmation of the order.
The new 5 metre high doors meet the stringent regulations that apply to airport fire stations, with all four doors capable of fully opening within 6 seconds at the push of one button. More than this a UPS backup system, fitted by Hörmann, will open all the doors immediately in the event of power failure.
The high perfomance products are matched by the service provided by Hörmann. Sales Manager, Cliff Weller explained: "Once the order was placed we had a target of six weeks to complete the installation and remove the existing doors. Working airside brings in additional constraints but, by working closely with the airport management and contractors AA Lovegrove, we were able to complete the project one week early. As one of the objectives of the project was to minimise disruption we are thrilled with our perfomance."
All work at London City Airport is expected to meet the highest possible standards, in all aspects, placing significant demands on the airport management.
John Higgins, Project Manager, is responsible for overseeing these projects, he said: "This work in an operational fire station, close to a runway, required significant co-operation between all parties. Our primary concern is always safety first, the quality of the work and the cost effectiveness, so to meet our standards and complete this installation early has quite rightly brought praise from both the airport management and the fire service."
Dave Barclay the Senior Airport Fire Officer commented: "We are pleased with the installation of the doors which operate efficiently and are maintenance free."
London City Airport is the UK's leading business airport serving over 30 destinations across the UK and Europe and connections to the rest of the world through major European hubs.
