Regional Minister Kickstarts Housing Project In Featherstone
Rosie Winterton MP, the Regional Minister for Yorkshire and the Humber has marked the start on site of a development of more than 50 new homes including 33 for social rent.
The development by Ben Bailey Partnerships has been made possible through funding of £2.1 million from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) as a part of the Kickstart programme.
Ms Winterton said: "It is tremendous to witness the start of this new housing development made possible by Government funding of £2.1 million from the Kickstart scheme which helps stalled housing projects.
"As a Government we have been determined to support business and individuals through the recession and, as we emerge from the economic downturn, this investment in Featherstone demonstrates how we are ensuring long-term sustainable growth by creating jobs and helping to build the homes people need."
Welcoming the new homes David Curtis, Regional Director of the HCA, said: "These homes will make a real difference to the people of Featherstone since they will include a choice of not only the type of house, but also the option to either rent or buy a property. The mix of bungalows, town house and semi- detached homes means that this scheme will help our partners deliver their local ambitions."
