Lovell Chosen To Build £1.89 million Cambridgeshire Housing Scheme

Construction News Image
Lovell has been awarded a contract to build 16 homes at Hauxton, near Cambridge by Wherry Housing Association which is part of Circle Anglia .

The development will create seven two-bedroom and nine three-bedroom homes, all for affordable rent, and is set to be completed in January 2011.

The properties will meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, the national standard for measuring environmental performance, and will be built using a timber-frame system. They will incorporate other sustainable features including solar panels which will help to provide hot water for the homes. Also, mechanical heat recovery ventilation systems will recycle ‘wasted’ heat from kitchen and bathroom areas, using it to warm incoming fresh air from outside.

Darren Blake, Development Manager for Circle Anglia, commented: "We are committed to providing more much needed affordable housing for the local community. The homes are beautifully designed and their high environmental performance means that they will be efficient for residents to run."
